The Targi tournament on Board Game Arena was notable in that many of the games timed out. Also, several players decided they didn't enjoy playing the game asynchronously online. There were several factors at play:
- The tournament had a maximum game duration of 2 days (it was later changed mid-tournament to 7 days) which was the shortest max game duration for a BGB tournament to that point.
- The start date was during Memorial Day weekend when players are typically less active.
- Targi is a two player game so one of the two players' clocks are always running.
- Targi is designed for quick, back-and-forth play during the meeple placement phase, but this gets drawn out when playing asynchronously.
The incident led to the creation of Tournament Guidelines and Etiquette.
